BM, MM Taylor Simpson is a lyric soprano based in the D.C. Metropolitan area. She began her music education with piano lessons in elementary school, and continued studying piano through high school and college. Taylor developed a passion for singing when she joined a local children’s choir in high school. As a teacher, she focuses on musicianship, foundational music theory, and healthy technique. Taylor’s goal is to cultivate each student’s unique and amazing creativity, helping them learn to perform with excitement and confidence.
She holds a Bachelors of Music from Liberty University and Masters of Music from George Mason University. Favorite past operatic roles include Contessa in Le Nozze di Figaro and Mimi in La Boheme. Taylor has enjoyed performing locally and abroad, and has had the privilege of working with amazing teachers and coaches such as Dr. Kathryn Hearden (George Mason University), Joan Patenaude-Yarnell (Manhattan School of Music), John DeHaan (University of Minnesota), and Maestro Joseph Rescigno (La Musica Lirica, Italy).
Along with teaching at Harmonia School, Taylor is the Music Director with the Arlington Children’s Chorus. Outside of performing and teaching, she enjoys boxing, cooking, learning Italian, and spending time with friends and family.
